it seems to me that people tend to either go "you need to have perfect anatomy before you can stylize!" or "you need to focus on style more than anatomy!" when it comes to developing your art

and i think that's sort of a silly stance to take? anatomy knowledge and stylization are two sides of the same coin really

without proper anatomy knowledge, your style won't look good, it'll seem off and people will know and it WILL put them off in the long run

but if you focus ONLY on getting PITCH PERFECT anatomy, and draw as realistically as possible, without any focus on stylization, then you'll lose that unique flair to your art that people will want to see

style is important because it gives you something that only you can do

people will come to you for commissions because they know that YOU'RE the only person who can draw in that style, they can only get that from you

if you have a generic style, then why would someone come to you for art that looks like it could be drawn by anyone else?

it's ok if your anatomy isn't perfect while you're developing your style

it's ok if your style isn't all that developed while you're working on your anatomy

as long as you try and balance the two out, you'll grow into a style that will both look good and will be unique to you, it just takes time and a wide angle of learning!!
